Phulbani: One person was killed and 40 others injured, one of them seriously, when a private bus carrying more than 40 migrant workers from Surat overturned at Kalinga Ghat near the border of Ganjam and Kandhamal districts on 02/05/2020 Saturday evening.
DIG, Southern Range, Satyabrata Bhoi said the ill-fated bus was on the way to Ganjam district with about 58 migrant workers when the driver lost control of the vehicle at Kalinga Ghat area near Andharakota in the evening.
“We have information that one migrant worker has died and another seriously injured while about 40 who have sustained minor injuries have been shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district,” the DIG said.
He said the police, Fire Brigade and ambulance vans are present at the spot for rescue operation.
“The identity of the deceased is not yet known,” Bhoi said, adding that the injured workers will be shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital if their condition is found to be critical.
