Tips to Protect yourself from Heatstroke or Sunstroke
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids such as water, coconut water, lemon juice, and buttermilk to stay hydrated. Avoid drinks that contain caffeine or alcohol as they can dehydrate you.
- Wear Lightweight and Loose Clothing: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing to allow air to circulate around your body and keep you cool.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the hottest part of the day, which is from 11 am to 4 pm.
- Use Sunscreen: Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
- Take Frequent Breaks: Take frequent breaks in a shaded or air-conditioned area to cool down.
- Avoid Strenuous Activity: Avoid strenuous activity or exercise during the hottest part of the day. If you must exercise, do it during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening.
- Stay in Cool Areas: Stay in cool areas, such as air-conditioned rooms, or use fans to circulate air.
- Eat Light Meals: Eat light meals that are easy to digest, and avoid heavy or fatty foods.
- Take Care of Elderly and Children: Take special care of elderly people and children as they are more susceptible to heatstroke or sunstroke.
