Kabibar Radhanath Ray was born on 28th September 1848, at Kedarpur village in Balasore district. Father Sri Sunder Narayana Ray and Mother Smt. Tarini Dasi. In the gradual development of Oriya literature Radhanath Ray occupies an important position. His creations have enriched Oriya literature and it can be undoubtedly told that through his unique literacy creations Oriya poetry in the nineteenth century has got new life, asset & appeal.

He believed in Keat’s words that ‘A thing of beauty is a joy for ever. He is a panegyrist of nature. His poetries include Kedar Gouri, Chandrabhaga, Nandikeshwari, Usha, Parvati, Chilika, Mahajatra – Jajatikeshari, Tulasistabaka, Urbashi, Darabara, Dasaratha Biyoga, Savitri Charita & Mahendra Giri. Besides he has written more than fifteen essays. He died on 17th April, 1908.

Kabibar Radhanath Ray is the principal architect of the era of initial modernity in Oriya poetry. Kabibar Radhanath Ray wrote poetry during the later part of nineteenth century and is honored in Oriya literature with the title “Kabibara”. In the gradual development of Oriya literature Radhanath Ray occupies an important position.  His creations have enriched Oriya literature and it can be undoubtedly told that through his unique literacy creations Oriya poetry in the nineteenth century has got new life, asset & appeal.
