Manabasa Gurubar Festival of Odisha

This Manabasa Gurubar is a festival of Goddess Lakshmi. As Goddess Lakshmi is known as the Goddess of wealth so all the people worship her to increase their wealth and money. On every Thursday of Margasir of Odia month goddess Lakshmi is worshiped by Odia women. On that day the odia women wake up early in the morning and clean their houses with a broom stick. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi will never visit if a house is dirty. The door steps of every room are decorated with chita which is the artistic Orissan alpana. A bamboo pot which is filled with freshly paddy known as “Mana“. All Odias think that Goddess Lakshmi visits every houses on this Manabasa Gurubar festival or puja. On this festival there is a custom to read the “Mahalaxmi Puran” which is written by Poet Balaram Das while performing the Manabasa Gurubar Puja.MANABASA GURUBAR FESTIVAL
