New Delhi : The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has sought a report from the Odisha State Election Commissioner (OSEC) over the incident of shoe hurling at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after a delegation of the BJD leaders met the CEC and apprised the official about the incident, said party MP Pinaki Mishra here today after meeting the official.
“The CEC condemned the act and has sought a report from the State Election Commissioner”, said the MP after meeting the CEC.
The CEC has also directed the (OSEC) to ensure smooth conduct of the by-poll, he added.
Notably, a youth identified as Kartik Meher of Padmapur area hurled two shoes at Patnaik while he was campaigning at Kumbhari under Barpali block of Bargarh district yesterday. However, the CM’s security personnel caught the shoes while police arrested the accused from the spot.
